Digital Weather System Installed at Nepalgunj Airport

A digital weather system has been installed at Nepalgunj Airport. It will help with aircraft flight safety, take-off, and landing, etc.

The system was implemented by the Nepalgunj Airport in the coordination with Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

The weather system involves the use of a digital board at the airport which feeds weather information for aircraft. Likewise, the air traffic controller will allow safer take-off and landing, said Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of the CAAN.

It’s not the first time weather system has taken precedence for aviation which is also a must to begin with. CAAN is also installing weather systems to minimize mishaps in the Northern part of the country.

“It helps in flight and landing as well as guarantees air safety,” he continued, “while passengers on board will also get live information about the weather”.

Weather system at Nepalgunj Airport

The weather system at Nepalgunj Airport will provide weather information for 20 different cities in the country including Mahendranagar, Dolpa, Surkhet, Tikapur, and Dhangadhi.

More particularly, the system is installed to help with remote flights from Nepalgunj Airport. Currently, flights board domestically for Surkhet, Jumla, Dolpa, Mugu, Rukum, and other districts from the city.

Nepal is not shy of aviation disasters. In fact, many tragic mishaps have occurred in the country through the years. Geography, “olden aircraft”, and other factors have made Nepali skies almost vulnerable leading the EU Commission to continuously ban Nepali flights from its aerospace. The weather system though is the right plan in the right direction.
