Manakamana goes digital, payment at temple and stores via QR

Manakamana area has been declared a digital bazar with the coordination between NMB Bank and FonePay. ย From now on, devotees can offer donations with QR payment at the Manakamana temple, and at the stores around the popular religious site.

The area was announced as the digital bazar at a ceremony on Friday, December 16. ย Guru Prasad Paudel, the Executive Director and Digital Payment System Department Chief at Nepal Rastra Bank inaugurated the digital payment system at the popular religious site.

During the event, NMB Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sunil KC, and FonePay Chief Executive Officer Diwas Sapkota were present. Likewise, the event had the presence of local traders, social activists, and representatives from the Manakamana Area Development Committee, Chamber of Commerce Unit Committee, Mai Manakamana Bachat and Rin Sahakari Sanstha, etc.

The service will bring convenience to the thousands of visitors to the popular temple. Now, charity and offerings at the temple, buying at stores will be much easier thanks to the introduction of mobile payment.

FonePay is Nepalโ€™s dominant payment system operator. Users of mobile banking apps and digital wallets can use its Scan & Pay feature to pay for goods and services. At the same time, users can send money to any bank account by using FonePay Direct.

Currently, it has a network of 60 banks and financial institutions and e-Wallets. Over 10 lakh merchants and 1.50 crore mobile banking and wallet users pay through FonePay. ย
