Madhesh Province formerly Province no. 2 has recorded the highest number of electric stove users in Nepal. The detailed National Census 2078 report released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) highlights.
In terms of districts, Kathmandu came first with 4,694 families using electricity-based cookware. Dolpa and Manang came at the bottom for the same.
Madhes Province leads in provinces
According to the data, 9 thousand, 468 families in Madhesh Province use electric stoves for their cooking needs. Bagmati Province comes second with 8 thousand, 887 families using electric cooktops.
Koshi Province has 6 thousand, 177, Lumbini has 4 thousand, 692, and Far-Western Province has 1 thousand 607 users. Gandaki and Karnali provinces have 1 thousand and 390 and 353 electric stove users respectively.
The usage varies between cities and rural areas. In rural regions, 7 thousand 850 families are using electric stoves while the number is very high in cities. As per the census 2078 report, 24 thousand, 724 households are using electric stoves or infrared stoves in urban areas.
Terai represents the highest number of electric stove users in Nepal
Among the regions, the Terai region has 21 thousand, 164 households using electricity to cook their daily foods. In the hills and mountains, 10,701, and 709 families are using such hardware for preparing their meals.
Likewise, 33 lakhs, 98 thousand, and 396 households use firewood, and 29 lakhs, 49 thousand, and 995 families use LPG for cooking purposes. Biogas, kerosene, and other resources are still used for cooking.
As per the census 2078 report, there are 66 lakhs, 60 thousand, and 849 households in Nepal.
