You Can Continue Using WhatsApp Without Internet, Find Steps

Now you can use the popular chat app WhatsApp without internet. Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company rolled out a new feature on January 5th, 2023 which allows users to connect to WhatsApp via proxy.

The company said that users can now communicate through the app even when the internet is off. Find out all the details below.

What is the WhatsApp Proxy feature?

The WhatsApp Proxy is a new feature the company has rolled out to enable the offline exchange of messages. With it, users will be able to connect to WhatsApp through servers set up by volunteers and organizations to help people connect freely.

If you have no internet or if it is blocked, you can still use WhatsApp through proxy servers.

WhatsApp without internet still maintains a high level of privacy and security

If you were concerned about using WhatsApp offline, the company has assured you that it is safe and secure. The message your send or receive stays just between you and the other person as the encryption method works on the regular service.

“Connecting via proxy maintains the high level of privacy and security that WhatsApp provides.” Your personal messages will still be protected by end-to-end encryption — ensuring they stay between you and the person you’re communicating with and are not visible to anyone in between, not the proxy servers, WhatsApp, or Meta.” it wrote in its blog post.

At the same time, you can also help others connect to WhatsApp without internet by creating a proxy server for WhatsApp. You can set up a proxy using a server with ports 80, 443, or 5222. The domain or a subdomain shall point to the server’s IP address.

WhatsApp said that its offline feature is available for users all over the world. You just need to update the app to its latest version on their respective app store to enjoy the feature. If the feature doesn’t show on your app, you might receive the update in the next few days or weeks as the global rollout likely takes time. Anyways, WhatsApp is excited about the service. “What this means is we’re putting the power into people’s hands to maintain access to WhatsApp if their connection is blocked or disrupted,” the company declared.
