Rupay international cards can now be used at ATMs of member banks and financial institutions of SCT (Smart Choice Technologies). Likewise, ATMs will also accept Rupay services provided by Discover Financial Service, and Diners Club International cards which are issued by India’s NCPI (National Payment Corporation of India) network.
Following this, over 1 crore Rupay international cards issued by NCPI have become capable of the transaction at ATMs that work on the SCT network. Likewise, tourists who use Diners and Discover debit and credit cards will also get benefits from being able to use Rupay cards at SCT ATMs. Indian users can pay with PhonePE in Nepal
The facility will soon arrive on ATMs of NMB Bank and other BF/Is. Nepal SBI Bank has already incorporated Rupay card usage at its ATM outlets.
Rupay is a fast-growing Indian payment service launched in 2012. In recent years, it has consistently increased its footprints in international markets facilitating the electronic financial transaction to more users. Service providers in Singapore, Bhutan, and UAE have also started allowing Rupay services.
In 2022, Nepal’s PM Sher Bahadur Deuba and Indian PM Narendra Modi jointly launched Rupay marking a remarkable step towards cross-border payment for Nepal and India.
