Twitter rebranded, Elon Musk replaces bird with x for logo

Elon Musk has rebranded his social media platform Twitter with a new logo “X” replacing its long mainstay of a bird, 17 years to be specific. Musk has hinted that this change is only a part of a broader rebranding of the micro-blogging site.

On Monday, July 24, the network’s site brandished the new logo. It’s a white color X against a black background. On Sunday, Musk teased the idea of a different logo and said he could replace it right on the very day if he found something potential.

Musk tweeted: “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds”.

Before that, the SpaceX supremo even replaced the bird with a meme dog. The bird’s life had been at stake ever since the eccentric entrepreneur’s arrival at the popular social media platform.

Musk changes the Twitter logo and replaces a bird with an X

On July 23, Twitter owner Musk ran a poll on whether they would prefer the platform’s color change from blue to black. But the plan may have been made much earlier. Last year in October, the billionaire said that “buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app”.

Linda Accarino, the recently-appointed CEO of the company tweeted “Lights. Camera. X! with its new logo X projected on the company’s offices in San Francisco.

But it has not gone down too well for everybody. Soon after the new logo spanned across, “#GoodbyeTwitter” was trending as users criticized the new one.

Musk has divided policies, and people with the path he has strategized for the company after his 40 billion takeover in October 2022. He has changed the company’s business name to X Corp wanting to create a super app like WeChat. The X does reflect a theme of SpaceX, another of his ventures. And in 1999, he founded a startup called “X.com.”

Twitter has around 200 million active users however, the company has reported deep and growing financial strains in recent months. It has also struggled to keep firms for ads due to its policies such as paid-subscription for previously free services causing it to lose some of its major existing sponsors.

Musk himself admitted recently that Twitter has lost about half of its revenue from ads since his takeover in October 2022.

Twitter’s X logo has come after Meta’s launch of the Twitter-killer Threads which has achieved tremendous growth in a matter of a few days since launch.

So, it only looks interesting as to what could happen in the next few weeks between Twitter vs Threads.
