National Identity Card (NID) is now finally available on the Nagarik App. The government integrated the digital NID card on the popular government-made app on Tuesday, January 21 which marks the latest reinforcement for e-governance in Nepal.
The NID card is available on the latest version of the Nagarik app (2.0.41). And also the good thing is that it’s already available on both Android and iOS platforms. However, due to the server and other technical issues, the details are not showing for all. But this issue should subside in the next few hours or a day or two.

How to get my National Identity Card on Nagarik app?
You can now easily get your National Identity Card in digital form on the Nagarik app by linking it. Follow the steps to link your NID on the Nagarik app:
- Open Nagarik App
- Tap on National ID under All Services
- Enter the unique number associated with your NID
- If the detail is correct, your NID shall start showing
After linking your NID on the app, you shall see your information stored on it digitally on your mobile phone. More features regarding this federally-issued ID will arrive in the near future and this includes the ability to create a Nagarik App account using the NID card details.
NOTE: Remember that you may need to update your Nagarik App to its latest version (2.0.41) to get the National ID feature on the app. Another thing is that the option National ID was not showing in the early hours of January 21 even though it was sort of announced that it was launched. But at the time of writing this article, the option should be available for all Nagarik apps irrespective of the platform.

Benefits?
The government has made it mandatory to have the National Identity number for various public services. For e.g., to buy a new SIM card, to open a new bank account, or else, one now needs to produce a National ID card or at least have a unique number. But with it coming to the Nagarik app, users won’t have to carry around the physical document same as with the driving license these days.
Likewise, Nagarik App users with NID linked on the app will have it easier to open a bank account too. We can’t rule out a scenario when one can simply go to the bank and show their NID on the Nagarik app and have their new bank account created.
Let’s also take note that the National ID card is seen as the future main citizen’s ID card so, it’s great that Nagarik App has integrated it on the app. After driving license getting QR and full traffic police acceptance on the Nagarik App, it’s the next great milestone and we are thankful to the government.
