Nepal Digital Payments Company Limited (NDPC), the parent company of the digital wallet Namaste Pay has appointed Jhabindra Lal Upadhyaya as its new chairman. He was selected to the post with unanimous decision of the board’s 63rd meeting held on Falgun 24, 2080.
Mr. Upadhyaya took oath from Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, Executive Director of the Payment System Department of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The oath-taking ceremony took place on Falgun 30, 2080. Mr. Upadhyaya will now have the opportunity and challenge to grow Namaste Pay’s influence in the market. NDPC is jointly set up by Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) and Nepal Telecom (NTC). The company operates Namaste Pay, one of the top digital wallets in Nepal.

After taking his oath, chairman Mr. Upadhyaya said, After the oath-taking ceremony, Chairman Mr. Upadhyaya expressed his delight and said, “I am excited about the potential impact of our initiatives on fostering financial inclusion and economic empowerment”.

Namaste Pay is a growing mobile payment gateway. It’s owned by NDPC. It’s noteworthy that the company is the largest in terms of paid-up capital. However, in the cut-throat competitive environment of digital wallets, it has struggled to hit a benchmark. Being a joint venture of RBB and Ntc, NDPC has ample resources to research and develop Namaste Pay into a top digital wallet in the country, something that Mr. Upadhyaya will focus on in his tenure.
