YouTube Premium Lite launched in India, find price and features

Google has rolled out YouTube Premium Lite in India, bringing an ad-free user experience more affordably to millions of users in the country. But the Premium Lite version contrasts with the Premium version, and there are some limitations to it.

“Today we’ll begin expanding our Premium Lite pilot to users in India. Premium Lite gives viewers a new, more affordable way to enjoy most videos on YouTube ad-free for Rs 89 per month,” Google said in a blog post.

YouTube is not the direct alternative to Netflix, but it is still a huge draw for video consumption worldwide, especially for content that is not movies or web series, and almost everything except them.

YouTube Premium Lite vs standard Premium

YouTube Premium Lite provides ad-free videos. But compared to the standard Premium version, the Lite subscription still shows ads in music, Shorts, and searches.

“The introduction of YouTube Premium Lite in India underscores YouTube’s commitment to offering flexible options that cater to diverse viewer preferences, allowing users to enjoy their favorite content from a vast array of creators and genres with fewer interruptions,” Google said.

Likewise, features like offline downloads and background playback aren’t available with Premium Lite YouTube. But the good thing is that it works flawlessly on smartphones, smart TVs, and computers.

Conclusion

The Premium Lite YouTube subscription is a mixed bag sort of thing. It does ensure an ad-free experience, but for videos, except for music, Shorts, and searches. It’s not a wholesome premium experience, anyway, but it should satisfy users who are not into music as much.
