Soon you will be able to directly pay for your drinking water (Khanepani) bills through eSewa. The facility has launched for the people in Kathmandu after the agreement between Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) and eSewa.
The digital payment service is part of the initiative of the KUKL which will integrate more online payment vendors for the Kathmandu valley. In this first phase, eSewa FonePay has been chosen to kick off the electronic payment facility.
But there is room for many. KUKL CEO Milan Kumar Shakya said the Water management will soon bring NMB Bank and Nepal Investment Bank into the system to widen its digital payment facility for the customers in Kathmandu.
He also informed that people in Kathmandu will soon have an option to pay for their water supply bills via eSewa.

To add an online payment option, KUKL, on Kartik 12 had invited applications with a proposal from desiring candidates to provide a mobile payment system. The invitation had received applications from 7 digital wallets and 4 banks.
Out of those, eSewa, NMB Bank, and Nepal Investment Bank were chosen to roll out the service.
During the time of another surge in COVID-19 cases, and with digital payment becoming the norm, people in the capital will have a convenient method of paying their drinking water bills cashless with eSewa.
