Apple is discontinuing iTunes for Windows, the long-serving music player app for many. It has been long since the US company did the same for Mac computers and now, half of the world will have to switch to other options to play music if they are on iTunes.
If you are on Windows 10 and launch the iTunes app on your computer, you will get the prompt to download one of the three alternatives.

iTunes for Windows discontinued with three options
Here’s what you will get in replacement for iTunes for Windows:
- Apple Music app: The Apple Music app is designed intuitively and is classy in looks. Plus, it offers updated UI, lyrics, and lossless playback. Want 4K music videos to play? You are covered there too. The good thing is you also get the content from your library and AirPlay.
- Apple TV app: It’s another alternative for you post-iTunes for Windows life and it’s good too. The Apple TV app lets you access your library and get video content. You can experience 4K playback and subscription channels on Windows. The service lets you watch the MLS Season Pass as well which is cool if you are into US football, oh! soccer that is.
- Apple Devices: This app lets you update, back up, and also restore your iPhone or iPad. You can also manually sync your content to iPhones from the PC.

After downloading Apple Music, Apple TV, or Apple Devices …
After you download either of the above apps, you won’t see your music or videos on iTunes. Also, remember that you won’t be able to sync content from your iPhone and iPad and vice versa. But Apple says that you can use it to access podcasts and audiobooks.
If your Windows computer doesn’t support the Apple Music, Apple TV, or Apple Devices app, you can then continue using iTunes for Windows.
Also, keep note that Apple has redesigned iCloud for Windows apps so that you can easily see how it syncs your content across the signed-in devices. To give users better clarity, the app displays the progress of the ongoing upload and download from iCloud.
