E-commerce platform Alibaba founder Jack Ma is in Kathmandu. He landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport on the chartered Boeing 737 Max flight at around 2:30 PM in Kathmandu.
General Director of the Immigration Department Jhalakram Adhikari confirmed the Chinse entrepreneur’s arrival in Nepal.
In recent years, Ma has been in conflict with the Chinese government and has not been living in public as much prompting questions regarding his lifestyle. The Chinese government has adopted a stricter policy against his company. As a result, Ant Group, an affiliate company of Alibaba has had to delay its “world’s largest IPO”.

Jack Ma is in Kathmandu and could meet PM Prachanda
However, he has begun surfacing lately. A few days ago, he was seen giving a lecture at a Japanese university as a visiting professor. Now, the iconic Chinese billionaire has arrived in Nepal which is almost a rare sighting of the inspirational billionaire. The reasons for his sudden Nepal visit haven’t been disclosed yet. But sources claim that Ma could be scheduled for a meet-up with PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”.
If you were not aware, Alibaba has a share in Nepal’s largest online marketplace Daraz. Jack Ma founded Alibaba in 1999.
Ma, whose full name goes, Jack Ma Yun is currently the 5th richest person in China and 63rd in the world. As per Forbes, the Chinese billionaire’s net worth is an estimated $23.5 billion.
The 58-year-old Ma has studied science and arts. He taught English prior to his burst into the eCommerce scene.
Ma had criticized the Chinese government and since then has been living a sober life.
