NMB Claims ‘The Bank of the Year 2021 Asia’ Award

NMB Bank has been honored with ‘The Bank of the Year 2021 Asia’ award by The Banker magazine, London UK. For the prestigious recognition, the commercial bank saw off other Asian banks from China, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and India.

NMB Chairman Pawan Kumar Golyan received the award on behalf of the bank from Hon. PM Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Winning the international accolade is a milestone achievement for the Nepali banking fraternity and a moment to behold. PM Deuba congratulating the bank said that the award has uplifted the prestige of the Nepali banking industry.

The Banker Magazine run by the Financial Times Ltd., based in London confers this among many awards as recognition for banks’ excellent service delivery.

NMB Bank Wins Another Award

NMB Bank had more reasons to be delighted on the same day. While it received international recognition from the popular British magazine, it also maintained its lead as an A-list bank in Nepal with another “The Bank of The Year 2021 Nepal.”

The domestic award was announced at the Everest Hotel on Nov. 2nd, the very day the bank received the coveted award by the British Magazine.

NMB Bank bagged the award for its focus on sustainable banking, and its shift towards digital transformation. The bank is also recognized for its high corporate standards.

Speaking on the occasion Sunil KC, CEO, NMB Bank expressed his delight in receiving the prestigious global recognition. He said, “We are delighted to have won the award which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, the trust bestowed on us by our customers, regulators, the guidance of the NMB Board, and support from all stakeholders. Our efforts during Covid-19 to ensure that our customers receive uninterrupted services through our digital Omni-channel platforms that have set industry standards and our efforts to support the communities where we operate in these crucial times have all contributed to the Bank’s success.”

NMB Bank in Nepal is also marked for its shift towards digital transformation and sustainable practices. The bank has been able to introduce many first-ever services in recent years. This includes Energy bond issuance, foreign debt deal, Omni Channels banking, Video KYC, and digital automated lending with NMB Sapati.

Chairperson Pawan Kumar Golyan says that the Bank has run its services with the country’s economic advancement in the center.

The Bank of the Year Awards began in 2000 to recognize the best banks in service in each country and six different global regions – Western Europe, Central & Eastern Europe, Asia, Americas, Middle East, and Africa.

Besides, the Banker aims at offering an ‘unparalleled outlook’ on a range of news, analysis, interview, and wide coverage facing the financial sector across the world.

NMB Bank’s recognition by a foreign magazine highlights that Nepali banks are adept and qualified to deliver services and also remain competitive with modern banking practices.
