The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has launched a new Aadhaar App with modern features such as face ID, QR scan, etc. The new app makes it more accessible and secure.
The new Aadhaar card is equipped with features that modern smartphone users are already accustomed to. It includes face ID for authentication, QR-based verification, and real-time face ID for authentication, etc. Also, the app comes with artificial intelligence (AI) that raises its functionality for users.
The Aadhaar app replaces the physical card that the citizens had been holding in their pockets.

Benefits of the new Aadhaar app for users
First, the use of the Aadhaar card means no need to carry around the physical Aadhaar card in the pocket. So, this will make it very convenient during hotel check-ins, shopping, or any place where they are used.
Also, the verification with the card becomes as easy as performing a UPI payment, Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw who unveiled the app formally declared. To illustrate, users can authenticate their identity using a QR code scan.
Users can also share the data as they choose, which means they have control over their personal data.
“No need to hand over Aadhaar photocopy at hotel receptions, shops, or during travel. The Aadhaar App is secure and shareable only with the user’s consent. 100 per cent digital and secure,” Vaishnaw said.
Let’s assume that the Aadhaar app is similar to the Nagarik App of Nepal. But while the emphasis on the former is more on the security of the electronic form, the latter is equipped with public services.

Digital inclusion is another purpose of the new Aadhaar app
The new Aadhaar app seeks to promote digital inclusion and add more citizens to its ecosystem. As QR and AI features have enhanced the app, the government could add more functionality and security to make it a robust, useful, and powerful app in the future.
Aadhaar card is issued by and provides holders a unique digital identity as a citizen. It is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Reportedly, 99% of adult Indians have been registered in the Aadhaar card system. The target will be to shift as many as possible towards using the app.
