Nepal’s leading PSO NEPS (Nepal Electronic Payment System) has been selected as a member of the advisory committee of the Payment Card Industry Security Standard Council (PCI SSC).
The Council is an internationally recognized global forum established to develop and drive the adoption of data security standards for safe payment worldwide. It was formed jointly by internationally renowned card networks such as American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard, and Visa Inc.
With its entry, NEPS will have a role in the development of standards related to data security in card transactions. All the member organizations in the advisory committee also play their role in making the standards timely by presenting their respective market, geographic and technical experiences in the development process of the standards.

NEPS to have a say
NEPS will now have opportunities to discuss with global firms such as Amazon, Apple, Bank of America, European Payments Council, HDFC Bank, IBM, JP Morgan, PayPal, and Microsoft on standardization and issues related to data security in card transactions, the company has said.
Sanjeev Subba, Chief Executive Officer, Neps, said, “We take this opportunity as a challenge to make the security of card transactions more agile and timely and to realize the vision of innovation and secure digital landscape in the payment sector.”
