Indian auto manufacturer Mahinda & Mahindra hit a milestone with the unveiling of its new electric vehicles – Born Electric BE 6e and XEV 9e. The new lineups are built on innovative INGLO architecture and also boast ADAS Level 2+ features. Most significantly, the company has offered a lifetime warranty on batteries which is unheard of on EVs. It’s a value differentiation that can potentially ignite a new phase of competition in the industry. The car shall be launched in mid-2025 under Rs 40 lakh. Mahindra BE 6e and XEV 9e Overview
Design
Mahindra BE 6e and XEV 9E look muscular and futuristic almost to the point of seeming like concept cars. The BE 6e SUV measures 4371 x 1907 x 1627mm. It features C-shaped LED DRLs, a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and an aircraft-like gear lever. On the other hand, the XEV 9e exudes a suave design and comes with a slightly larger body profile at 4789 x 1907 x 1694 mm with vertical LED DRLs, triangular LED headlamps, and connected taillamps on the back. Both SUVs have a 2775mm wheelbase.
Inside, BE 6e features twin-display screens while the bigger XEV 9e boasts a three-screen setup. Another notable highlight is that both these cars have a 1400-watt Harman Kardon audio system which is developed with AR Rahman and Dolby Atmos technology.
Upon a quick glance, both BE 6e and XEV 9e mimic some similarities, however, differ in performance. But one thing is for sure both of these SUVs steal the show with beefy road presence.

Performance
The BE 6e can produce a maximum power of 281 bhp and boasts 280 Nm of torque. Its claimed highest range is 682 kmph.
Mahindra XEV 9e runs on a 59kWh motor capacity with a single electric motor. Its maximum power output stands at 228 bhp and has a higher torque of 380 Nm. The company claims that the car can offer 656 km of range on a single full charge. Likewise, a 140kW fast charger can juice up the battery of this car from 20-80 percent in 20 minutes.
Battery and Safety
BE 6e and XEV 9e come with 59 and 79 kWh battery packs and a single electric motor for the rear wheels. The cars can be charged from 20-80 percent in 20 minutes with a 175kW charger. The best part of the SUVs perhaps is the lifetime warranty Mahindra has offered on the batteries for private owners which is unprecedented in the EV industry. Besides, others to buy these vehicles will get 10 years of 200,000 km warranty. These will be one of the key selling points for these two exciting cars.
Mahindra has afforded BE 6e with seven airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, auto park assist, 360-degree camera, etc. Likewise, the XEV 9e features ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, traction control, EPB, etc. Seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a reverse parking camera are its other safety features. Essentially, both are equipped with ADAS Level 2 safety systems.

Mahindra BE 6e and XEV 9e price in Nepal and launch date
Mahindra says that the delivery of its new SUVs BE 6e and XEV 9e begin in February 2025. So, there won’t be a long wait for these two to arrive in Nepal too perhaps in early 2025. In terms of price, the BE 6e might arrive at around Rs 35 lakh for its Indian price ₹18.90 lakh. The bigger variant XEV 9e has a price tag of ₹21.90 in India so it might be set at around Rs 40 lakh here in Nepal.

The price range indicates that it might compete with the likes of BYD Dolphin, Tata Punch, and Nammi EV 01. But the lifetime battery warranty and stylish design might even favor Mahindra’s ambitious lineups. Time will tell when they hit the market in Nepal.
