Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) will now manage the operation of parking at Dharahara. The decision was recently made after a meeting between the local level and the government.
The meeting was attended by the home minister Omprakash Aryal and KMC’s mayor Sunita Dongol, and representatives of other stakeholder institutions.
It’s expected that with KMC taking responsibilities for parking in Dharahara, traffic congestion will be efficiently managed. KMC to operate Dharahara parking
An agreement has been reached allowing Kathmandu Metropolitan police force to handle the management and operation of Parking in the Dharahara area. It will also conduct necessary security and management work.
The government and KMC have also agreed to form a study committee to prepare short-term and long-term plans for the management of the Dharahara area. The committee will have representatives from the Ministry of Urban Development and Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
