The annual tech event Huawei MNC Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 (DNC23) has been held successfully. The two-day event took place on June 23 and June 24 and included a total of 15 sessions on 6 different themes which explored Nepal’s digital capabilities under the Fostering Digitally Sakshyam Nepal theme.
The event had the participation of high-ranking government officials, industry experts, and tech enthusiasts from home and abroad. Together, they discussed a broad range of topics which included digital innovation, and infrastructure, entrepreneurship, digital economy, e-governance, digital security, and capability, etc.
PM Dahal and Communication Minister Sharma address the prestigious tech event
On June 23, PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal attended the tech fair as the chief guest while the Communication minister joined in as a special guest. While addressing the opening session, he emphasized the infrastructure and security to realize the vision of digital Nepal.
On the other hand, Communication Minister Sharma opined that the perspective on technology has now changed and it’s not merely for entertainment now. She said today’s ICT structures are also to be used for production and the digital economy. The minister was speaking at the Fireside Poser Samvad in the inaugural session.
Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat attended the closing ceremony as a special guest. In his address, he said that ICT can make a great contribution to Nepal’s economy. “The government is leading the ICT industry and we are ready to cooperate with everyone for this”, the minister said.
The event was also attended by PM’s IT expert Prakash Rayamajhi who stressed joint efforts between the state and private sector to achieve digital Nepal goals.

Huawei commits to Nepal’s digital goals
Likewise, Jim Wang, CEO of Huawei Nepal said that the Chinese tech giant will continue to lend its hands in support of Nepal for its digital ambitions and sustainable development.
Former Minister of Science and Technology, Ganesh Shah said that to achieve the digital Nepal vision, the digital capability must precede first while concluding the event.
Several known figures from the industry also delivered their presentation at the two-day event. Dileep Agrawal, President of World Link, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Seoul Digital Foundation of South Korea, Dr. Chang Hak Choi, and Lee Yun Seng, Senior Industry Solutions Expert at Huawei Asia Pacific Region gave their keynote presentation at the event. The others include Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT), Krishna Bahadur Raut, Founder of India’s The Digital Fifth; Sameer Singh Jaini, Sameer Maskey, Founder of Fuse Machines, Professor Hill H. Kobayashi of Tokyo University, Japan.
Altogether, 70 resource persons participate in the two-day event in Kathmandu which was held in the Soaltee Hotel. Subject matter experts presented their papers before the panel discussion.

Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 Concludes
The first day of the conclave had a panel discussion on supporting infrastructure for Nepal’s digital abilities, digital identity, and local and provincial efforts in digital governance.
Similarly, the second day of the event had panel discussions on digital innovation and entrepreneurial capacity, digital capacity building, digital economy, financial technology capacity, data governance, digital security, etc.
This year’s Huawei MNC Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 organized with ICT Foundation Nepal is the second edition. As a pre-event, the organizer conducted Digital Pradesh Samvad in all seven provinces of Nepal. Likewise, the second edition of the ‘Digital Pradesh Paridrishya book was also released. The book contains information on the digital situation and capabilities of all seven provinces.
In addition to the DNC23, Huawei also organized the Mobile Nepal Congress as a mini-Mobile World Congress in a separate hall. The participants were acquainted with new technologies along with 5G, AI, Green Data Centers, etc.
The conclave explored Nepal’s capability for digital transformation and the necessary policy formulation and implementation.
