Yatri Motorcycles, a Nepali EV startup is geared up to manufacture EV batteries that will be suited to Nepali landscapes. According to reports, the company is likely to use its own battery for its upcoming electric scooter P2.
Using its own battery will mark another significant development for the company. Just recently, Yatri received Nepal’s first temporary vehicle registration. The company is working with Sipradi Trading to produce electric scooters. It’s seeking to mobilize its own battery for it.
Reportedly, Yatri is working on the cell and mighty pack for its battery production. The company’s Research and Development (R&D) team is aggressively working on manufacturing its own battery.

Yatri to make EV battery to address Nepali customers’ demand
Yatri says that its EV battery will address customers’ demands in Nepal. In its study, the company says that most users and potential buyers are concerned with EV battery range and warranty. Therefore, the company’s founder Ashim Pandey said that the company wants to use its own battery, which will alleviate all these concerns of the buyers.
Additionally, the company is also studying the road conditions for its battery. Pandey added that the companies across the world produce their own batteries for their EVs, that is why, Yatri is also following suit.

Yatri to provide 8 years of warranty on its battery and repair service
Yatri will provide customers with up to 8 years of warranty on its battery. It will also repair cells in the country.
Sujan Tamrakar, Battery Head at Yatri, Currently, most companies provide 2 to 3 years of warranty on their scooter batteries. We are working on providing the warranty coverage to up to 8 years. So, we are working on design for both cell and battery pack. When cell and battery are designed, it will be put to in-house and outsource for testing.
Yatri batteries will also support DC fast charging and will be resilient enough to sustain performance in hot and cold weathers.
Yatri EV battery will create a new milestone for the industry in Nepal and will also inspire other competitors to provide better value to their customers.
