Yatri to make electric scooters suited to Nepali market

Yatri Motorcycles will now venture into making electric scooters suited to the Nepali market and conditions. The Nepali startup has struck up a partnership with Sipradi Trading that will see the former make Yatri electric scooters through Sipradi Yatro Pvt. Ltd.

The new venture will involve Yatri carrying out all the technical aspects of the new projects while Sipradi will be responsible for commercial operations. According to Yatri Design Studio CEO Asim Pandey, the company has already working on its pioneering Yatri EV scooter for three months and they aim to launch it somewhere in 2025.

Pandey shared that the company surveyed 1000 participants about what kind of scooters they would want in terms of design and specifications. He said that the company is designing an electric scooter based on the participants’ choices.

Earlier, Yatri-Sipradi reached a joint venture to promote electric bikes. Now, the two entities have joined hands for electric scooters too.

What will Yatri electric scooter be like?

Yatri electric scooters will be suitable for the Nepali market and be price-friendly. It will have good ground clearance, pulling power for hilly rides, and offer better range.

Pandey added that its scooters will be designed to withstand potholes, bumps, etc. He said that its two-wheeler will give riders confidence to travel from one city to another. Yatri has solved the registration issue, but Pandey believes that the government should address trademark and patent rights of Nepali products at a policy level.
