Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited (MBL) has partnered with Tenpay Payment Technology Company Limited to launch the WeChat Pay service. The move will bring digial payment option to Chinese tourists in Nepal and facilitate them with a mobile-based payment service.

The bank believes that this agreement will also support the Digital Nepal Framework, promote the digital economy, and various strategic initiatives of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The agreement is also expected to play a significant role in financial digital inclusion, the cashless economy, and the modernization of payment infrastructure.
Cross-border payment is growing in Nepal, and WeChat Pay’s presence is also evolving. NMB Bank has already brought the WeChat Pay facility. Now, MBL is also taking the initiative. This will help widen access to payment facilities for Chinese travelers during their stay in Nepal.
