Nepal’s leading digital wallet platform eSewa has posted revenue of Rs 21 billion in FY 2081/82. The company also plans at expanding its services in South Asian markets.
According to the company, it generated Rs 21.40 billion in revenue in 2081/82 while earning a profit of Rs 45.34 crore. The majority of revenues came through fund transfer, standing at Rs 52 crore. In FY 2081/82 alone, Rs 31 crore was transacted for digital loans.
Growing wealth stream
In recent years, eSewa has seen its revenues soar. In FYK 2079/80, the company’s revenues were over 12.87 billion. In FY 2080/81, the figure reached 16.97 billion. With 26% year-to-year growth, the company reached a milestone of over Rs 21 billion in revenue in FY 2081/82.
Likewise, in FY 2079/80, the leading mobile wallet earned Rs 24.44 crore in profit. It increased to Rs 35.83 crore in FY 2080/81 while reaching Rs 45.34 crore in FY 2081/82.

eSewa expansion in South Asia
With a clear dominance in Nepal, eSewa now eyes expansion in the South Asian region. Already, eSewa provides cross-border payment for Indian tourists and travelers in Nepal. It plans to extend its partnership with foreign-based service providers to enrich its access beyond the domestic market.
With its humongous transactions and revenues, the affluent company also spent a sizeable amount in paying its chief executive officer (CEO), Jagdish Khadka. According to the company, Khadka pocketed Rs 1.16 crore in his wages for FY 2081/82. Khadka has been serving as the eSewa CEO since Ashoj 12, 2079.
As of 2081/82, the company reached 10.1 million users while serving over 5.60 lakh merchants across the country.
