Company and VAT registration online on a single day from home

The government of Nepal will soon bring a system that will enable company and VAT registration online on a single day from home. KP Sharma Oli made the emphatic announcement in his recent interaction with IT entrepreneurs at Baluwatar, the Prime Minister’s residence, which has drawn praise from the concerned communities.

The PM said that the system will be established with ample technology use which will speed up the process of registering the company and VAT system. As of now, people largely stay in line for the same process. There is no option but to visit the offices physically to get the company and VAT registered in the government books. KP Oli says he wants to change that.

“Now we are developing a system (online) that allows you to do everything from company registration to VAT registration and more from home in one day,” he said. “We are launching a technology that allows you to say, ‘I want to do this,’ and we will make it successful within a short time.”

During Oli’s tenure, the driving license on the Nagarik app went fully digital, and now accepts driving licenses on the Nagark app for any type of inspection. Also, recently, the government introduced an ordinance that lets Nepali IT companies establish firms abroad without tax obligations. The PM reiterated that he has been closely observing the current IT state and stressed the need to continue working with understanding.
