In a magnificent feat for the popular electric vehicle, the Tata Nexon EV Long Range variant has earned a 5-star rating. The model that comes with a 45 kWh battery pack was recently awarded a rating in the crash test for both adults and minors. India’s New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP) gave the high-flying EV the highest safety rating.
Tata Nexon EV gets near-perfect score with a 5-star safety rating
In the crash test, the Tata Nexon EV Long Range variant received a massive 29.86 points out of 32 for adult protection and 44.95 points out of 49 for child protection. The safety test was conducted at a speed of 64 km/h for a frontal impact. It is how the safety of the passengers sitting in the front seat is assessed.
The test found that the car stood up well against the impact on the head and neck of the driver and front passenger. It’s been said that the driver’s chest protection was found satisfactory while the passenger’s chest protection was sound.

For the test of the car’s side impact, it was hit from the side at a speed of 50 kmph. In this test, the driver’s head, chest, abdomen, and waist protection drew an excellent score. Likewise, the side pole test also brought positive results. The test found that a human body, if it happened to be in such a situation, would be in good condition despite the fiery impact.

Tata Nexon fared excellently in both adult and child protection
Overall, the Nexon EV Long Range variant achieved a near-perfect 5-star rating with 29.86 out of 32 in adult protection and 44.95 out of 49 points in child protection.
The test was conducted with a dummy of an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old girl. In the test conducted in the front seat for the 18-month-old child, it scored 7.95 out of 8 points, while the 3-year-old girl scored a full 8 points in the test.
Additionally, in the dynamic test, the car drew 23.95 out of 24 points.

These ratings will apply to other variants
Bharat NCAP says that this safety rating will be applicable to the mid-range variants – Creative, Fearless, and Empower, which come with a 30 kWh battery pack. Similarly, these ratings will be valid for the Creative, Fearless, Empowered, Empowered+, and Red Dark variants with a 45 kWh battery pack.
Tata Nexon EV comes with airbags, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, etc. The Top variant gets rear disc brake, tire pressure monitoring, and other additional safety features.
In Nepal, the Tata Nexon EV price is Rs. 38,99,000 to Rs. 42,99,000 based on base and top variants. It competes with the likes of BYD Dolphin, MG4 EV, MG Comet, and Mahindra XUV400 EV. The 5-star crash test score further raises customer appeal to this subcompact SUV EV.
