Design and Display
Redmi Note 12 Pro sports a familiar design profile. It has a glass front and back but the plastic frame found on the Redmi Note 11 Pro has been replaced with aluminum. The camera and other physical button placements are also conventional. There is a punch hole on the top front. Similarly, it retains trendy flat sides.
Xiaomi has given it IP53-certified protection against splash and dust. The model comes in three color options- stardust purple, frosted blue, and onyx black. The dual speakers produce loud and high-quality noise backed by Dolby Atmos.
Talking of physical buttons, the top side gets a 3.5mm headphone jack, a mic, and an IR (infrared) blaster. A speaker, USB-C port, SIM card tray, and a mic fit at the bottom. Sadly, Redmi Note 12 Pro doesn’t come with a microSD Card option.
Display
The display is a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel as its predecessor, Redmi Note 11 Pro. Certified by HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision, the screen also supports a 120Hz fast refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate and reaches 900 nits for its peak brightness. It can switch the refresh rate to four levels to save battery life. Moreover, the full HD+ panel has a 395 PPI density. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The display is another resemblance. It features the identical 6.67-inch AMOLED panel as the Redmi Note 11 Pro and has a full HD+ resolution for a crisp and vibrant display. The AMOLED-backed display is the most preferred in the industry. It gets an under-display fingerprint scanner, one of the distinguishers from its predecessor.
Performance
The Redmi Note 12 Pro gets the popular MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC which ensures more efficient processing power, camera configuration, and fast-charging support. It’s a good decision as the predecessor came with an underwhelming Snapdragon 695 which offered 5G but compromised on many possibilities. The TSMC-manufactured chipset uses a 6nm process. It rocks an octa-core processor with 2×2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
Paired with the Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, the SoC makes up for a decent gaming and overall performance of the device. The Redmi Note 11 Pro had a Dimensity SoC only for Chinese variants but this time, Xiaomi has used it for the RN 12 Pro which would delight many hardware-sensitive buyers.

Storage/RAM
Redmi Note 12 Pro is available in familiar Storage/RAM options. You can opt for a 128 GB ROM variant with either 6 GB or 8 GB RAM. You can also opt for a 12/256 GB RAM/ROM option. Xiaomi has used LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage tech.
Camera
The Pro model comes with a triple camera setup. What could be a delight to many is that Xiaomi has brought into it a 50MP Sony IMX 766 lens with f/1.9 aperture. It’s a 6P lens having a sensor size of 1/1.56-inch. The OIS works for stabilizing images well. The 8MP ultrawide unit has a 119˚ FOV with an aperture of f/1.9. At the same time, there is a 2MP macro camera to snap tiny objects.
The Pro Plus variant gets a massive 200 MP camera which is the first time for a Redmi Note phone.
Thanks to the Dimensity SoC, the main camera can shoot videos up to 4K@30 FPS. On the front is a 16 MP selfie shooter that can record 1080p videos at 60fps.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro camera would not stand up brightly when compared to those installed inside the most expensive phones. However, in the budget segment, you get decent optics that shoot large file images carrying immense details.

Battery, Charging, and others
Battery efficiency has been one of the top-most glorified features of the Redmi Note series and Redmi Note 12 Pro carries the tradition. The model gets a Lithium Polymer battery with 5000 mAh capacity. Like the Redmi Note 11 Pro, the Note 12 Pro also gets a similar capacity of 67W fast wired charging which is extremely fast for juicing up the battery. The powerful charger comes in the box without needing to buy an extra adapter for it.
Xiaomi says that a fully charged Redmi Note 12 Pro will last 7 hours of social media browsing, 10 hours of watching videos, and 4 hours of continuous gaming.
Connectivity
Xiaomi has brought the most formulaic connectivity options for its mid-range king Redmi Note 12 Pro. It supports a dual-5G for cellular service and WiFi 6 for next-generation home Internet performance. In addition, it features Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, GPS, GLONASS, BDS (B1I+B1c), GALILEO (E1), etc. For charging and file transfers, there is USB Type-C support which also lets you use or connect various accessories via the USB OTG feature. The phone comes with the latest MIUI 13 skin built on top of Android 12.
