GAC Aion V Overview
Dimensions and Design
The GAC Aion V is a mid-size (compact) SUV that well balances stylishness with utility. It is 4605 mm long, 1854 mm wide, and 1660 mm high. At 2775 mm in length, the long wheelbase also makes the SUV’s smooth handling even better. At the front, it includes H-shaped LED headlamps, black cladding connecting the grille with the lower bumper, and inwardly arched lines. It has a sleek and polished side profile with 19-inch multi-spoke petal-style wheels.
Like the front, the rear design has vertically arranged LED taillights that keep a unified and elegant style. Highlighted inside by a 14.6-inch control screen, leatherette front seats with heating and ventilation, and a 6.6-liter cooled glove box in the center armrest, the Aion V features a minimalist and sophisticated cabin. Physical controls on the two-spoke steering wheel complement the eight inch instrument cluster, which offers important driving information. With a panoramic glass roof, the interior seems open and roomy, and a 9-speaker sound system enhances the driving experience.
Performance
Under the hood, it is powered by a 150 kW PMS engine, the GAC Aion V provides a maximum output of 204 PS and 240 Nm of torque, which is constant throughout all trims. With an automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system, this electric SUV will deliver silky and reactive driving. More than enough for highway and urban driving, the top speed of 160 km/h strikes a nice compromise between performance and economy.
As for suspension setup, it has a McPherson strut at the front and a rear torsion beam suspension for a comfortable and stable ride. Further enhancing its appeal as a versatile electric SUV, the 225/45 R19 tubeless tyres guarantee excellent grip on many road surfaces. Although the strong suspension system first offers a smooth ride over several ground types, ground clearance specs have not yet been provided.
Battery and Range
The Aion V has two battery types: a 62 kWh LFP battery and a 75 kWh LFP battery, both providing great range and performance. On the CLTC cycle, the 75 kWh battery has a good 650 km range; the 62 kWh battery provides up to 520 km of range.
The Aion V can be conveniently charged with both AC and DC fast-charging options. A 62 kWh battery will need about 10 hours to charge completely using a 7 kW AC charger, while a 75 kWh battery will need around 12 hours. With the 62 kWh version, the DC quick charger can go from 10% to 80% in only an hour, and 70 minutes for the 75 kWh version for quicker charging.
Safety and Features
Safety is a key focus in the Aion V. It arrives with facilities including airbags and the ADiGO Pilot Intelligent Driving Assistance system. Stylish as well as functional, the interior provides 427 liters of storage that can be extended to 987 liters when the rear seats are collapsed down. Ideal for groups or families, the Aion V has seating for five passengers.
